The God Whom We Serve
Daniel 3: 16 – 30
Introduction
As Christians, there are deep questions we need to ask ourselves today. Because, many of us say we are Christians. But, we are far from manifesting Christ in us. Whatever He wants us to be, He is. Some of His traits are:
Christ has authority
He has no fear
He is humble
He went about His Father’s business
He is an over-comer
He is faithful
He is compassionate and loving
He is bountiful & cheerful (Mark 10:51; John 10: 14 -15)
If we could imbibe His traits, everyone will know we serve the Almighty God.
Word
We all want to enjoy the countless benefits from God, but what are we willing to give to have the rights and privileges that He bestows?
What would we sacrifice? Our time, job, relationships, posh cars, etc.?
Will we serve God at any cost? Romans 8:35 asks the question “who can separate us from the love of God?” Is it your job, sleep, money, etc.?
Do we just love God, for who He is or is it for what He can do for us?
He can give us everything (Ephesians 3:20)
God is love (1 John 4:8)
He gives us wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18)
He gives us health (Exodus 15:26)
He protects us (Psalm 91: 1 – 4)
He gives every good things (James 1:17)
But, will we still serve Him if He does not do these things? Daniel 3:18
Can we remain in Him no matter what or how long it takes? (Job 14:14)
In the face of death, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego proved their God.
They were fearless
They showed humility
They demonstrated their faith
They showed they loved God, regardless of what happens.
They declared they would not be shaken in their relationship with God, whether He does what they wanted or not.
Are you there for God just as He is there for you? Or do you give up on Him?
Are you friends with Him, no matter what?
The word “Christian” came about in
Do we represent Christ?
Will people see us do or say something and think “oh, that’s just like Jesus!”?
Are we representing Him on earth?
Have we made up our minds to serve Him, no matter what the situation is?
(read Mark 10: 21- 22) Are we still Christians when we have one 3 companies, 6 houses and 8 cars?
Or, do we become so busy to obey His word not to forsake the assembly of the righteous (Hebrews 10:25)?
Do our work colleagues ask us if we are Christians, or we have to tell them ourselves (Matthew 7: 20 by their fruits)?
We must live a life that testifies to the God we serve, for there to be a meaningful relationship between us and Him.
Do you think someone whom you have declared so much reverence for, will deny you? Matthew 10:32 says He will confess us before His Father, if we confess Him before men.
Just try and picture what transpired in the lives of these three men, after they declared for the Almighty…
Hebrews 13:5b says He will never leave us, nor forsake us.
Psalm 65:5 “By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea.”
Let us hold steadfastly to what we profess according to Hebrews 4:14 “Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.”
Hebrews 10:23” Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)”
Conclusion
Can we quickly see Matthew 6:33?
Give whatever it takes, and build that relationship where you will always serve in, no matter the situation.
Paul was a man of authority, well-educated; a professional – lawyer. He gave that up
Peter was a fisherman by profession –he heeded the call
Proverbs 22:4 “By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.”
Proverbs 22:29 “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”
Job suffered much –he remained faithful
Can we all rise up and let’s pray in line with Psalm 130: 1- 4
I entreat you to trust in the Lord and serve Him in the way that reflects His glory from today, and you will see Him move in your life. Amen.
