Doers of the Word (11/01/09)
James 1:22
Intro:
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). What knowledge? Trusting and applying God’s words!
-trust Him to make good His words
-apply what you know of God
-Do not rationalise God’s word –2 Kings 7:1 – 2; Rom 4:20 – 21, is it 10% gross or net?
-your ability to trust God’s word determines if it will come to past or not in your life (only believe) – Mark 9:22 – 23, 11: 22 - 24; Isa. 50:10; John 11:40
-When you decree/pronounce a thing –believe your own pronouncement and it will come to past
Your part is to believe; God’s part is to perfect. Let your conduct reflect what you believe
When you say “I’m strong”, show strength;
When you say “I’m healed”, show you are healthy
When you say “I’m rich”, be generous
When you say “I’m more than a conqueror”, do not give up.
Those who preach the gospel –Luke 10: 17 - 21
Those who tithe –Malachi 3:10 - 12
Those who sow –Galatians 6:8 - 10
Those who give –Luke 6:38
Those who love -1 John 4:7 - 8
Those who forgive –Mark 11:25
Finally
The blessing is in the doing, not in the hearing
If you believe the word of God, let it show in your character and relationships. Let your actions speak! Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp & a light i.e. to direct and to guide.
Luke 6: 46 – 49 “The Hearer” and “the Doer” like solid foundation of house.
Matthew 6:33 – 34 Seek the Kingdom not your life first; God will sort your life out far better than you can ever do.
